Formed in 1961 by rugby players from Henbury School in Bristol, the Aretians have enjoyed a high degree of success during their 40 years of membership in the Bristol Combination and the Gloucestershire RFU. Although they are unable to boast any members of the England squad, a number of Aretians have gone on to play for their country, their county, the Bristol Combination and Bristol Rugby Club. Former Aretians Players have also become distinguished members of the Bristol Referees' Society.
Fully committed to the promotion of Rugby Union football, the Aretians RFC currently run 3 Senior sides, 1 Veterans side and 4 Junior sides. Senior training sessions are held at the ground every Tuesday and Thursday at 7.00 p.m., with Junior training sessions at 10.00 a.m. on Sundays. Anyone interested in rugby, both members and non-members, is invited to attend.
